Privacy Policy

Sarnia Hood Cleaning is the business that runs this website, and this policy tells you what the site learns about you, where that information goes, how long it stays and how you can see, fix or remove it. The policy follows the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the federal law that governs how a Canadian business handles personal information in commercial activity. The quote form is the only place the site asks you for personal details. Browsing a page does not tell anyone who you are. Last updated: September 2026.

What you type into the quote form

One form sits on the homepage and a second copy sits on the contact page. Both collect the same things.

Five fields you fill in. Each one is required before the form sends:

  • Your name
  • Your phone number
  • Your email address
  • The name of your business or kitchen
  • A message about the work you need

Details the page adds for you. When you press send, the page attaches the web address and the title of the page you were on, a short label that says whether you used the homepage form or the contact page form, and a timestamp from when the page loaded. The address and title let the reply refer to the page you were reading. The label and timestamp help with spam filtering, described next.

Spam checks. The form carries a hidden field that people never see and never fill in. Automated scripts tend to fill it, and a submission with that field filled is dropped. The timestamp lets the server drop anything sent faster than a person could read the form, or from a page left open for hours. Neither check stores anything about you.

What the form never asks for. Card numbers, bank details, government ID numbers, passwords and health information. If you put any of these in the message box, ask and they are removed from the record.

Where your submission goes and who sees it

A submission makes two stops, and both serve one purpose: answering your request.

First stop: a Netlify function. Your browser sends the form to a small program that runs on this domain through Netlify, the company that hosts the site. The program accepts posts only from this website, runs the spam checks, confirms the phone number has ten digits, and forwards a clean submission. It keeps no database of its own.

Second stop: the GoHighLevel CRM. The function passes the submission to an inbound webhook in GoHighLevel, the customer relationship system used to run Sarnia Hood Cleaning. There it becomes a contact record, and a notification goes to the person who prepares quotes and books visits.

Who sees your record. Sarnia Hood Cleaning and its operating crew, Power Hoods Systems, who carry out the walk-through and the cleaning. Netlify and GoHighLevel process the data as service providers under their own privacy terms. No other company receives it.

What the record is used for. A written quote back within 24 hours and, if you go ahead, booking and completing the visit. You may get a call, a text or an email for those reasons. A form submission does not sign you up for a newsletter or a marketing sequence. Reply STOP to any text message and the texts end.

No selling. Your details are not sold, rented or traded, and they are not passed to an advertising network.

Storage outside Canada. Netlify and GoHighLevel may store data on servers in the United States. PIPEDA allows this when the information stays under contractual protection comparable to what it has in Canada. Data held in another country can be subject to that country's laws.

The Google tag, the chat widget and cookies

The Google tag. Every page loads the Google tag GT-NMJ58MK6. It reports which pages you view, in what order, the type of device and browser, and your approximate region. Google uses cookies to tell a returning browser from a new one. The tag does not receive what you type into the quote form, because the form goes to the Netlify function in a separate request. The numbers show which pages help kitchen operators and which need work. Google handles this data under its own terms. You can block the tag with your browser's tracking protection or an extension, and the site still works.

The chat widget. When a chat bubble shows in the corner of a page, GoHighLevel supplies it. The widget loads only after you scroll, tap, move the mouse or stay on the page for a few seconds. It may use its own cookie or browser storage to keep one conversation together as you move between pages. What you type into the chat goes to the same CRM as the form and is handled the same way. You can ignore it. The phone and the form do everything the chat does.

Cookies from this site itself. None. There is no login, no cart and no saved preference. Any cookie you see comes from the Google tag or the chat widget.

Server logs. Netlify and the content delivery network that serves the pages keep short-lived logs of IP address, browser type, page requested and time, for security and uptime. Nobody at Sarnia Hood Cleaning uses those logs to identify a visitor.

How long records stay, and your rights

Retention. An enquiry that does not turn into a booking is kept long enough to answer it and to recognise your kitchen if you call again. After a completed visit, the signed certificate and the before-and-after photographs are safety records. You may need them for a fire prevention officer, a Lambton Public Health inspector or your insurer, so they stay on file with the contact details needed to reissue them.

Seeing your record. PIPEDA gives you the right to see the personal information a business holds about you. Call 226-799-4732 or write through the contact page. You get a copy within the time PIPEDA allows, which is 30 days in most cases.

Correcting it. A new phone number, a changed email or a kitchen that has changed its name is updated when you ask.

Deleting it. Your contact details are removed when you ask. The exception is the certificate and photographs for completed work, which stay as safety records. You are told this when you make the request.

If you are not satisfied. Call first and a person deals with it. If the concern is still not resolved, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, which oversees PIPEDA.

Minors and outside links. This site is for people who run commercial kitchens and is not aimed at anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who thinks a minor sent the form can call to have the record removed. When you follow a link to another website, that site's privacy practices apply.

Changes to this policy. When the handling of information changes, this page changes and the date at the top moves. The terms of service cover quotes, bookings and payment.

Privacy: frequently asked questions

Why does the form send the page address and title?

The page address and title tell Sarnia Hood Cleaning which page you were reading when you asked for a quote, so the reply can pick up where you left off. They say nothing about you beyond the fact that you visited that page on this site.

Who reads what I type into the quote form?

Sarnia Hood Cleaning and its operating crew read it to prepare your quote and book the visit. Netlify forwards it and GoHighLevel stores it, both as service providers under their own privacy terms. No other company receives it.

Does the Google tag see my form submission?

The Google tag records page views, not form contents. Your form fields travel in a separate request to the Netlify function and from there to the CRM. That request does not pass through Google.

Can I turn the chat widget off?

The chat widget can be ignored, closed or blocked with a browser setting, and the rest of the site works the same. Its storage only holds one conversation together while you move between pages on this site.

How do I ask for my details to be deleted?

A call to 226-799-4732 or a note through the contact page starts the request. Your contact details are removed. The certificate and photographs from a completed visit stay on file as safety records, and you are told why at the time.

A question about your record

The line that takes quote requests also handles requests to see, correct or delete your details. Call 226-799-4732 or use the contact page.
